Rear big brake conversion notes for the A70 Supra using Mitsubishi Evo 5–9 rear Brembo calipers and Subaru WRX STi GD rear rotors.

Important: use Mitsubishi Evo 5–9 calipers only. Do not use Evo X / Evo 10 calipers, and do not use Evo 1–4 calipers for this guide.

Rotor preparation
- Start with Subaru WRX STi AWD GD 2004–2006 rear rotors.
- Double-check that the rotor is the 5x114.3 version. Pre-2004 Subaru rotors are often 5x100.
- Have the centre bore enlarged to 60.1 mm. The Subaru centre bore is 58 mm.
- Drill the access holes for the handbrake adjustment.
- Use the original A70/MK3 rotor as reference for the handbrake adjustment hole position and cap location.
- After drilling, refit the OEM-style rubber/plastic caps in the adjustment holes.
Installation steps
- Safely lift and support the car.
- Remove the original rear calipers and rotors.
- Clean the hub face properly with a steel brush so the new rotor sits flat.
- Check the dust shield. You may need to bend or trim part of it for clearance. Try bending before cutting.
- Inspect the parking brake shoes and hardware. Replace the parking brake shoes if necessary.
- Mount the prepared WRX STi rotors.
- Mount the Evo 5–9 Brembo rear calipers using suitable mounting bolts.
- Make sure the bleed nipples are facing upward. If the nipples point down, the calipers are on the wrong side and bleeding will not work correctly.
- Install the brake pads, pad pins and spring clips.
- Install the brake lines.
- Bleed the brake system thoroughly.
- Check for leaks, check rotor/caliper clearance, check wheel clearance and test the parking brake adjustment before road use.

Final checks: verify wheel clearance, rotor seating, brake line routing, parking brake adjustment and fluid leaks before driving. After the first short test drive, re-check all fasteners and inspect for rubbing.
